L'Histoire d'Otter Fingerboards
Tout a commencé un après-midi dans le sud ouest de la France (Albi) quand un jeune passionné de skate est venu voir son père avec une demande toute simple mais pleine d'espoir :
"Papa, peux-tu me fabriquer une planche pour faire du fingerskate ? J’en ai marre de casser ma tirelire à chaque fois que je veux une nouvelle planche !"
Ce garçon, un véritable amoureux du skate, ne rêvait que de tricks et de glisse, mais son budget pour les planches classiques ne cessait de se vider. Il voulait continuer à explorer son amour pour le skate, sans que cela ne coûte une fortune à chaque nouveau modèle ou accessoire. Alors, son père, un bricoleur passionné, a vu l’opportunité de créer quelque chose de spécial.
Il s’est lancé dans la fabrication de sa première planche miniature, en cherchant à capturer l’esprit du skate traditionnel tout en étant accessible, durable et unique. Et voilà, Otter Fingerboards est né. Ce n’était pas juste une planche, mais un moyen de faire rêver son fils tout en cultivant une passion commune. Le père a ajouté sa touche personnelle en offrant à cette planche une souplesse parfaite, une précision qu’on ne trouve pas dans les modèles standards et une petite touche de fun inspirée par la nature : une loutre, symbole de fluidité, de liberté et de jeu.
Le nom Otter est né de cette idée : la loutre, agile et joueuse, est l'incarnation parfaite de ce qu'un fingerboard devrait être. Au fil du temps, le père et le fils ont travaillé ensemble pour peaufiner les designs et les performances des planches, et bientôt la passion a pris une ampleur plus grande, bien au-delà du garage familial. Les Otter Fingerboards sont devenus un moyen d'expression, un outil pour que chacun, jeune ou moins jeune, puisse ressentir l’adrénaline et la fluidité du skate, tout en jouant avec la précision d'un fingerboard.
Aujourd'hui, Otter Fingerboards est une marque qui met un point d'honneur à offrir des planches de qualité, accessibles, et pleines de caractère. Chaque planche raconte une histoire : celle d'un père qui voulait partager son amour du skate avec son fils, tout en rendant l'expérience encore plus fluide et fun.

It all started one afternoon in the southwest of France (Albi) when a young skateboarding enthusiast came to see his father with a simple but hopeful request:
"Dad, can you make me a board to do fingerboarding? I keep breaking my piggy bank every time I want a new one!"
This boy, a true skate lover, dreamed only of tricks and smooth rides, but his budget for full-sized skateboards kept running out. He wanted to continue exploring his love for skating without breaking the bank with every new board or accessory. That’s when his father, a passionate DIYer, saw an opportunity to create something special.
He got to work making the first-ever miniature board, aiming to capture the essence of traditional skateboarding while keeping it affordable, durable, and unique. And so, Otter Fingerboards was born. It wasn’t just a board, but a way to bond with his son over a shared passion. The father made sure to add his personal touch by perfecting the board’s flexibility and precision—something that was missing in the typical fingerboards—and he added a little fun touch inspired by nature: an otter, symbolizing fluidity, freedom, and play.
The name Otter came from this idea: the otter, agile and playful, was the perfect embodiment of what a fingerboard should be. Over time, father and son worked together to refine the designs and performance of their boards, and soon, the passion grew well beyond the family garage. Otter Fingerboards became a way for everyone—young and old—to experience the thrill and fluidity of skateboarding, while enjoying the precision of a fingerboard.
